Agricultural biodiversity Working Group: Austria's Manfred Schneider, who chairs the group, reported to the Committee of the Whole on Friday. The group's weekend meetings produced a draft decision with some brackets.
Friday's Committee of the Whole debates on technology transfer, intellectual property rights, incentive measures, the UNGA special session and biosafety gave way to working group meetings, drafting groups and informal consultations over the weekend. Delegates were asked to submit written submissions on several issues, and informal negotiations began assembling draft decisions for consideration the second week of COP-3.

The working group on agricultural biodiversity produced a draft decision with brackets around text regarding the relationship between the FAO Global System and the CBD, trade impacts, market forces, and other issues. The working group on finance formed a small consultation group Friday to work on review of the GEF as the CBD's financial mechanism. Details of the day's discussions are in Monday's Earth Negotiations Bulletin. You can also download Monday's Earth Negotiations Bulletin in either text or PDF format.
