ITPGR

In the morning, delegates decided that the contact group will develop terms of reference for the ad hoc advisory committee on benefit-sharing, and continued to exchange views on how to enhance implementation of the Multilateral System, including whether or not to commence negotiations on expanding the list of Annex I crops. Plenary then considered the Treaty’s relationship with the Global Crop Diversity Trust and its activities to support Treaty implementation; and the relationship with the FAO Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA).

In the afternoon, delegates considered the relationship with the CBD, focusing on ensuring harmonious implementation of the Treaty and the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing; cooperation with other bodies and international Conventions; sustainable use; and farmers’ rights. The contact group on the ad hoc advisory committee on benefit-sharing met in the evening.
