Highlights for Friday, 18 October 2013

On Friday morning, SBSTTA 17 delegates met in plenary to consider draft recommendations on new and emerging issues, and on contributions to the IPBES intersessional process; and a revised recommendation on scientific and technical needs for implementing the Strategic Plan.

In the afternoon, plenary adopted all three recommendations and the meeting report. In delivering closing statements, regional groups and stakeholders offered their preliminary assessment of SBSTTA's new format. SBSTTA Chair Gemedo Dalle Tussie (Ethiopia) gaveled the meeting to a close at 4:56 pm.
