The 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) will convene from 1-3 November 2018 in Beijing, China, under the theme “Innovation for a Green Era.”
Participants will consider, among other issues:
- the Council’s 2018 work report and 2019 workplan;
- CCICED policy recommendations; and
- progress on Special Policy Studies.
The AGM will kick off on Thursday, 1 November, with a roundtable discussion on “Low-Carbon and Circular Economy for Green Development.”
On Friday, 2 November, eight parallel open forums will convene, on:
- the Green Belt and Road and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- addressing climate change by innovating development paths;
- post-2020 biodiversity conservation;
- ocean environmental governance;
- innovation-driven green urbanization;
- Beautiful China 2035;
- green consumption for green transformation; and
- green development innovation for the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Established in 1992, CCICED is a high-level international advisory body comprising leading figures and experts from China and abroad. Its main tasks are to study critical environment and development issues facing China, and to provide policy recommendations to the Chinese government. By providing a platform for international exchange on sustainable development, the Council seeks to enable “the international community to understand China, and support China’s engagement in the world.”
