During the meeting, delegates will make a field trip to Anji County, a site of the Green Rural Revival Programme of Zheijiang Province.
China is the host country of UN World Environment Day this year, which will take place in Hangzhou on 5 June on the theme, “Beat Air Pollution.”
CCICED was established in 1992 as a high-level international advisory body comprising members and experts from government, businesses, international organizations, research institutions and social organizations from China and abroad. CCICED’s main tasks are to study critical environment and development issues facing China, and to provide policy recommendations to the Chinese government. CCICED’s annual policy recommendations are circulated as official government documents by the Ministry of Ecology and the Environment (MEE) to State Council and local government authorities in China, providing a reference for policy makers at all levels.
At the 2018 AGM of CCICED, the Executive Committee approved its workplan, and the Council considered draft policy recommendations on climate change, ocean and biodiversity governance, green urbanization, greening the Belt and Road Initiative, and green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
