2013 COPs Sustainable SynergiesThe Ordinary and Extraordinary Meetings of the COPs to the Basel Convention (BC), Rotterdam Convention (RC) and Stockholm Convention (SC) convened for a tenth day on Wednesday, 8 May 2013. Delegates convened in the morning and afternoon in plenary to consider issues under Rotterdam Convention COP6.

In the morning, RC COP6 considered: the Chemical Review Committee; status of implementation; trade; and official communications.

During the afternoon, RC COP6 agreed to list octa-BDE commercial mixtures and penta-BDE in Annex III of the Convention. RC COP6 also took decisions on financial resources and technical assistance.

Contact groups also met throughout the day, on Budget and Synergies, Technical Assistance and Financial Resources, and Listing of Chemicals. An informal group on the draft Ministerial Declaration also met.

Contact Groups
Diogo Coelho, Brazil, intervenes in the synergies discussion of the Contact Group on Budget and Synergies.
Delegates in the Contact Group on Technical Assistance and Financial Resources continue discussion on a Co-Chairs' proposal for a draft decision on the outcome of the consultative process on financing options for chemicals and wastes.

Lunch Side Events
Naoko Ishii, Global Environment Facility (GEF) CEO and Chairperson, at the "GEF CEO and BRS Executive Secretary Forum." The side event was organized by GEF and the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions.
A speaker at a lunchtime side event titled "Great Asbestos Trial – an example for other countries?" The event, consisting of a documentary screening and a panel dialogue, was organized by the Rotterdam Convention Alliance (ROCA) and Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF).
