POPRC-2 Highlights: Wednesday, 8 November 2006 On Wednesday, delegates discussed documents on three chemicals newly proposed for listing in the Convention's Annexes: octabromodiphenyl ether, pentachlorobenzene, and short-chained chlorinated paraffins. Chair Reiner Arndt (Germany) established contact groups to elaborate the draft proposals on these chemicals. In the afternoon, Ecuador presented a format for submission of information on socioeconomic considerations, as specified in Annex F of the Convention. Canada and Uruguay made presentations on the processes of risk management at their respective national levels. Delegates discussed components of the format for submission of Annex F information, and Chair Arndt established a contact group, chaired by Ecuador, to make changes and report to the Committee later in the week. The IISD Reporting Services (IISD RS) summary report of POPRC will be available online on Monday, 13 November 2006.
