Fifteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP15) of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)

13-25 March 2010 | Doha, Qatar

CITES CoP15CITES CoP15 will convene in Doha, Qatar, from 13-25 March 2010. CoP15 will review progress in the conservation of species listed in the Appendices, including: great apes, Asian big cats, Tibetan antelope, corals and agarwood-producing taxa.  It will consider proposals to amend the lists of species in Appendices I and II, including the proposals to: transfer the polar bear (Ursus maritimus)from Appendix II to Appendix I; transfer the population of elephants (Loxodonta africana) of the United Republic of Tanzania and Zambia from Appendix I to Appendix II for specific purposes; list  Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) under Appendix I; and list different shark species under Appendix II.

It will also: consider discussion documents and reports from the Parties, the permanent committees, the Secretariat and working groups; recommend measures to improve the effectiveness of the Convention; and make provisions necessary to allow the Secretariat to function effectively.

Due to funding constraints, IISD RS will only be publishing a summary and analysis of the conference, which will be available on this page on Sunday, 28 March 2010.
