The African Climate Risks Conference (ACRC) is an open platform for sharing the latest African climate research among researchers, policy makers, practitioners, and development partners. Under the overarching theme “Dismantling barriers to urgent climate change adaptation actions,” the ACRC aims to facilitate a synergistic approach on climate adaptation from a diverse range of actors across sectors, as well as to enable a better understanding of the drivers of risk and vulnerability.
Addressing climate-related research in Africa, the Conference aims to:
- disseminate up-to-date results and share research insights;
- link researchers and other actors from diverse fields to translate research into policy and practice;
- provide a forum for the identification of common priorities; and
- contribute to efforts to address barriers to more effective use of climate information.
The conference will promote the uptake of new data, tools, and knowledge, while facilitating new research collaborations. ACRC will thus improve the coverage of Africa and the contributions of African experts to the assessment reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and support African-led climate research priorities.
The conference will be hosted by Future Climate for Africa (FCFA) from 7-9 October 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
