The Ninth High Level Assembly (HLA) of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC) will take place on 14 November 2017 in Bonn, Germany, on the margins of the 23rd session of the Conference of Parties (COP 23) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The CCAC is a voluntary international coalition of governments, international organizations and non-governmental organizations, which focuses on addressing short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs). It was created in February 2012 by Bangladesh, Canada, Ghana, Mexico, Sweden and the US, together with the UN Environment Programme. It is open to countries and non-state actors wishing to join the coalition.

The role of the High Level Assembly of the Coalition partners is to set policy, take stock of progress and initiate future efforts. In line with the topics chosen by the Climate Champions, the 9th HLA will focus on actions related to agriculture and municipal solid waste, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals 2 (zero hunger) and 11 (sustainable cities and communities), respectively. Participants will share progress on actions from last year: introducing low-sulfur diesel and cleaner vehicles; initiating black carbon inventories; and bringing forward regulations to reduce methane emissions from oil and gas production. Attendance at the HLA is limited to CCAC Ministers and heads of partner organisations.
