Highlights for Wednesday, 1 May 2013

On Wednesday afternoon, participants, including from pilot countries and participating regions, gathered at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, DC, for the seventh meeting of the Pilot Program on Climate Resilience (PPCR), coordinated by the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). The afternoon's proceedings included welcoming remarks by the CIF's Funke Oyewole, Deputy Program Manager, and an update on the status of the PPCR from Andrea Kutter, PPCR Senior Program Coordinator.

Participants then divided into discussion groups to share updates on the implementation progress and challenges of their respective countries' Strategic Program for Climate Resilience (SPCR). On challenges, they addressed institutional arrangements, stakeholder capacity, data availability, stakeholder engagement, procurement and recruiting, and coordination and financing. Sharing advances made in their SPCRs, participants discussed, inter alia, capacity building, analytical work and technical studies, and procurement and recruiting, with many agreeing that having adequate capacity is key.
