Highlights for Thursday, 2 May 2013

On Thursday, participants reconvened at the World Bank Headquarters for the seventh meeting of the Pilot Program on Climate Resilience (PPCR) Pilot Countries. The morning programme focused on monitoring and reporting aspects of pilot country Strategic Programmes for Climate Resilience (SPCRs), including the "nuts and bolts" of PPCR monitoring and reporting. Participants took part in a "peer review" exercise and shared their impressions of country work plans. This was followed by a presentation by the Government of Belize on the country's Climate Resilient Investment Plan, and a discussion on lessons learned by other country representatives.

In the afternoon, participants undertook an "institutional mapping" exercise that highlighted different aspects such as institutional diversity and common frameworks. This was followed by participants addressing ways of maintaining the programmatic approach, including country coordination. Participants heard presentations from the Governments of Niger and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as a presentation from the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), which outlined strategies followed by their countries. The Governemnt of Samoa presented her country's strategies to maintain the programmatic approach through stakeholder engagement.
