Highlights for Friday, 8 June 2012
On Friday, the Task Group on Governance and Management met in the morning to discuss functions of the IPCC Secretariat and Technical Support Units (TSUs). The relevant document was later approved by the Panel. The Panel also agreed to revisions to the Procedures for the Preparation, Review, Acceptance, Adoption, Approval and Publication of IPCC Reports, including on the role of observers in the preparation of assessment reports.

Two contact groups convened to continue work on: revisions to the Rules of Procedure for the Election of the IPCC Bureau and Any Task Force Bureau; and the draft Communications Strategy. The plenary also heard progress reports on: on-going scenario process for the Fifth Assessment Report, activities of the Task Group on Data and Scenario Support for Impact and Climate Analysis (TGICA), and the IPCC Scholarship Programme.

The Panel approved the changes to the Procedures, including on the role of observers in the preparation of assessment reports.
