The thirty-seventh session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-37) will be held from 14 to 18 October 2013 at the Sheraton Hotel, in Batumi, Georgia. Among other items, the Panel will consider for adoption two methodology reports: “2013 Supplement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories: Wetlands”; and “2013 Revised Supplementary Methods and Good Practice Guidance Arising from the Kyoto Protocol.”

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) requires parties to prepare national annual inventories of greenhouse gas emissions and removals. To assist them, the IPCC produces guidelines on preparing these inventories. The IPCC is in the process of reviewing and updating its guidance on greenhouse gas emissions and removals from land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF). Its Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI) is developing supplementary guidance on wetlands. IPCC-37 will review and consider for adoption the most recent methodology reports in these areas.

IISD RS will provide a summary and analysis of this Session on Monday, 21 October 2013.
