The fifth global event of the Low Carbon Technology Partnerships initiative (LCTPi 5) will take place on 1 June 2016 at the Westin St Francis in San Francisco, USA. Led by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the event will focus on how LCTPi is harnessing the power of private sector innovation and collaboration to implement climate action.

The event, which will take place back-to-back with the seventh Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) taking place from 1-2 June in San Francisco, is primarily targeted to a business audience who would like to learn from companies who are engaged in the LCTPi. The event will highlight the 2016 priorities of the LCTPi working groups following the Paris Climate Change Conference, as they work to deliver on a set of business-led action plans for renewables, low-carbon transport solutions, climate-smart agriculture, forests, cement, chemicals and energy efficiency in buildings.

The event will include parallel sessions on: renewable integration; climate-smart agriculture; cement; low-carbon transport fuels; renewable finance; forests and forest products as carbon sinks; energy efficiency in buildings; and low carbon freight. Stakeholders will also share progress made so far this year on the initiative’s priority areas.

The LCTPi was launched at the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate (UNFCCC COP 20) in 2014, to bring together companies and partners to accelerate the development of low-carbon technology solutions to achieve the target of limiting global temperature rise to 2°C. The initiative is led by WBCSD in partnership with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). LCTPi has gathered over 150 global businesses with 70 partners to work collaboratively on the climate challenge.
