Highlights from Wednesday, 4 June

William Kojo Agyemang-Bonsu, Ghana, for the G-77/China (far left), said he looked forward to the early approval of the program of work of the EGTT. Jukka Uosukainen, Chair of the Expert Group on Technology Transfer (Finland) (right photo), reported on the EGTT's proposal to develop and test candidate indicators before making recommendations.

On the Nairobi Work Programme, Lucas Di Pietro Paolo, Argentina (left), highlighted the need to link data and observation of climate change with socioeconomic information. On cooperation with relevant international orgranizations, Leo Mayer, IPCC (center), noted agreement at IPCC 28 on a fifth assessment report, to be finalized in 2014. Mahendra Joshi, UN Forum on Forests (right), noted agreement at UNFF 7 in April 2007 on a non-legally binding instrument on all types of forests, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2007.

On non-Annex I communications and the Consultative Group of Experts (CGE), the EU (left) underscored the relevance of the CGE's work for discussions on measuring, reporting and verifying under the AWG-LCA. On review of the financial mechanism, the Russian Federation (right) supported analyzing the effectiveness of adaptation measures, including avoided impacts.

 
Adrian Roberts and Angela Churie-Kallhauge, EU. On review of the financial mechanism, the EU highlighted objectives of the review and said the GEF performs effectively and responsively.
