On Monday, 15 June 2009, delegates to the Second Session on the Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction met in a number of pre-session events to coordinate and discuss disaster risk reduction issues. This included meetings of the Association of South East Asian Nations' Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM), South Asian Group for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Economic Cooperation Organization on the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA),
Intergovernmental
Organizations (IGO) for South-South cooperation, Global
Non-govermental
Organizations (NGO) Network,
national platforms as well as regional groups from Central Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific.
A senior policy forum on advancing common frameworks and action in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation was also convened by Margareta Wahlström, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction.
