Highlights for Tuesday, 2 March 2010
PEP

On Tuesday, 2 March 2010, participants convened to discuss development agency strategies to put ideas into practices. Participants convened in morning plenary to hear feedback from the break-out groups held on Monday afternoon. Participants then heard from the World Bank on its Environment Strategy before forming discussion groups to address questions regarding the Strategy, including: Balancing short- and long-term trade-offs between development and environmental sustainability; Establishing what the balance is between the Bank’s role of addressing country specific priorities and the global public goods agenda; and Issues that may have been left out of the strategy.

After lunch, participants convened in plenary to hear a presentation on the emerging priorities for World Bank assistance in Sub-Saharan Africa, before breaking out into groups to discuss: Whether the proposed strategic priorities and activities are suitable for the region; Additional priorities to be included; and the role the Bank should play in scaling up activities under the Accra Declaration on Harmonization.
