The fourth Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) Forum will address the overarching theme of ‘Leaving No One Behind.’ The Forum will provide a platform to highlight the latest evidence of progress on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 (affordable and clean energy) and scalable innovations in achieving the three SEforALL objectives of ensuring energy access, accelerating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. In the context of the Paris Climate Agreement, the Forum will also specifically address how to deliver energy “to the last mile” through a transition to clean energy.
Hot topics include:
- launch of the 2018 Global Tracking Framework report: an assessment of progress towards the three SEforALL objectives of ensuring universal access to modern energy services, doubling renewable energy and improving energy efficiency;
- innovative solutions and “disruptions” that can help deliver change at the speed and scale needed to meet SDG 7;
- energy access and the Paris Climate Agreement: making the transition towards clean energy so as to achieve sustainable energy for all; and
- preparing for the 2018 UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July 2018, where SDG 7 will be one of the global goals under review.
SEforALL 2018 will also feature a marketplace for governments, business, international finance and civil society to showcase success, interrogate failure and identify what’s needed to achieve faster and broader gains towards clean and affordable energy for all.
