The fifty-second session of the International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC-52) and the Associated Sessions of its four Committees will meet in Yokohama, Japan from 7-12 November 2016. The ITTC is the governing body of the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), which provides a framework for tropical timber producer and consumer countries to discuss and develop policies on issues relating to international trade in, and utilization of, tropical timber and the sustainable management of its resource base.

Among the issues the ITTC and its associated committees are slated to discuss are: enhancing cooperation between ITTO and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES); the ITTO/Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Collaborative Initiative to Conserve Tropical Forests; developments in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) regarding forests and their potential implications for tropical forests and the world tropical timber economy; the ITTO biennial work programme; and the Biennial Review and Assessment of the International Timber Situation in 2015 - 2016.
