UNFF8 Enters Second Week

On Monday, 27 April, delegates to the eighth meeting of the UN Forum on Forests convened in two working groups at UN headquarters to begin the second week of negotiations on forests in a changing environment and financing sustainable forest management (SFM).

Working Group I addressed a draft resolution on forests in a changing environment, enhanced cooperation and regional and subregional process, completing a first read through of the resolution.

Working Group II completed a first reading of the Co-Chairs' text on financing SFM, including addressing the establishment and functioning of a facilitative process, and taking concrete action on financing SFM. In the afternoon, Working Group II briefly addressed an agenda item on forest law enforcement and governance.

Both working groups will address revised versions of the draft texts on Tuesday.
