UN-HABITAT GC 22 delegates met for a third day on Wednesday, 1 April 2009. Throughout the day, governments and other Habitat Agenda partners convened in a dialogue session where they discussed the GC 22 theme “Promoting affordable housing finance systems in an urbanizing world in the face of the global financial crisis and climate change.” The COW convened in the afternoon.
 
The drafting group met all day in a parallel session and continued discussions on guidelines on access to basic services for all and South-South cooperation in human settlements.
 
In parallel sessions, delegates convened in a “Global Parliamentarians on Habitat” meeting all day to discuss UN-HABITAT’s policy framework and direction. A number of parallel sessions took place during the lunch break including: the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) partnership on developing and testing gender criteria in large-scale tool assessment, a session on “UrbanInfo: statistical and spatial monitoring slums,” and a Latin America and Caribbean sponsored event titled “Towards social cohesion and citizen security policies.”
