Highlights for Thursday, 19 April 2012
The second session of the plenary meeting on an Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) entered its fourth day in Panama City, Panama. In the morning, delegates met to discuss rules of procedure. At lunch, informal groups met to discuss regional groupings to be used for the bureau and the multi-disciplenary expert panel (MEP). In the afternoon, delegates continued to discuss proposed options regarding the structure and composition of subsidiary bodies of the plenary. During an evening session, plenary voted to decide what country will host the IPBES secretariat.

Highlights for Friday, 20 April 2012
The second session of the plenary meeting on an Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) entered its fifth day in Panama City, Panama. In the morning, delegates met to discuss: interim arrangements for the multi-disciplinary expert panel (MEP) and the rules of procedure. At lunch, informal groups met to discuss legal aspects of establishing the IPBES. In the afternoon and late into the evening, delegates continued to consider the rules of procedure.

Highlights for Saturday, 21 April 2012

The second session of the plenary meeting on an Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) held its sixth and final day of discussions today in Panama City, Panama. Delegates met in the morning and afternoon to discuss a number of outstanding issues, including rules of procedure and possible intersessional work to prepare for the first session of the Platform’s plenary. In the evening, delegates worked through remaining issues and eventually adopted the report of the meeting and a decision establishing the IPBES. Chair Robert Watson declared the meeting closed at 8:57pm.
