The 67th Meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC-67) will convene from 10-14 September 2018 in Florianópolis, Brazil. From 4-9 September 2018, IWC-67 will be preceded by meetings on:
- operational effectiveness;
- special permit programmes;
- bycatch;
- aboriginal subsistence whaling;
- whale killing methods and welfare issues;
- budget;
- infractions;
- conservation;
- finance and administration; and
- credentials.
Results from these meetings will be reported out and considered at IWC-67. Additional IWC-67 agenda items will include:
- cetacean status and health;
- cetacean habitat;
- unintended anthropogenic impacts;
- IWC in the future;
- scientific permits;
- the New Scientific Whale Research Program in the western North Pacific;
- other conservation issues;
- proposal for a South Atlantic Whale Sanctuary; and
- cooperation with other organizations.
