New York, 13 May—The 17th session of the Commission on Sustainable Development is nearing its conclusion at UN Headquarters. Meeting from 4-15 May, delegates are negotiating decisions on agriculture, rural development, land, drought, desertification and Africa. The High-Level Segment is also taking place during CSD’s final days. More.

Geneva, 13 May—The International Conference on Chemicals Management is addressing a heavy agenda at its second session, which is taking place from 11-15 May. Delegates are considering such issues as financial and technical resources for implementation, emerging policy matters, and national capacities. More.
Geneva, 9 May—The fourth Conference of the Parties (COP4) to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) has ended in agreement to add nine new chemicals to the Convention. The final agreement also included decisions on financial and technical assistance, although debates on a non-compliance mechanism were deferred to COP5. More.

New York, 2 May—The United Nations Forum on Forests has wrapped up its eighth session in New York with agreement on a resolution about forests in a changing environment, enhanced cooperation and cross-sectoral policy and programme coordination, and regional and subregional inputs. However, delegates were not able to agree on financing for sustainable forest management, and will return to the issue at UNFF’s next session. More.
Cairo, 1 May—A UNFCCC technical workshop has been held on increasing economic resilience to climate change and reducing reliance on vulnerable economic sectors through economic diversification. The event was convened under the UNFCCC’s Nairobi Work Programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change. More.
