CSD 20 Commemorates Efforts to Monitor Agenda 21, Ushers in New Era for HLPF

20 September 2013: The final gavel on the final session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) fell on 20 September 2013. The half-day CSD 20 event convened to mark the end of the CSD's twenty-years, and involved statements highlighting the Commission's successes and shortcomings. Speakers also looked forward to the opportunities presented by the creation of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), which will hold its inaugural meeting on 24 September 2013. Community Land Rights Conference Calls for Target to Double Secured Community and Indigenous Lands

20 September 2013: Summary statements at the International Conference on Scaling-Up Strategies to Secure Community Land and Resource Rights, which convened in Interlaken, Switzerland, highlighted that main messages to emerge from the conference included that participants were excited about the target to double the amount of secured community lands, but that bad governance was the “elephant in the room.” More.

Fourth Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership Develops Erzurum Conclusions

19 September 2013: The Fourth Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership, which convened in Erzurum, Turkey, discussed: the new Mountain Partnership Strategy and Governance; mountains in Rio+20 and the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the Mountain Forum knowledge platform for sustainable mountain development; regional coordination mechanisms; and the selection of the Steering Committee. Long-term Finance Experts Hold Wrap-Up Event

12 September 2013: The Work Programme on Long Term Finance Wrap-Up Event, organized by the UNFCCC Secretariat, consisted of three thematic sessions: pathways for mobilizing scaled-up climate finance; enabling environments and policy frameworks for effective deployment of climate finance; and enabling environments and policy frameworks for mobilizing scaled-up finance.
