First International Basin Forum Addresses Water Quality, Ecosystem Health, Water-Energy-Food Nexus

28 November 2014: Participants at the First International Environment Forum for Basin Organizations shared approaches and experiences with a view to strengthening freshwater governance in their countries and regions. Participants also discussed ways to enhance implementation of basin-level agreements and relevant global conventions, especially in light of the entry into force of the UN Convention on the Law of the Non-Navigational Uses of International Watercourses (the Watercourses Convention) in August 2014. ICN2 Endorses “Landmark” Rome Declaration on Nutrition

21 November 2014: Participants endorsed the Rome Declaration on Nutrition and an accompanying technical Framework for Action to guide the Declaration's implementation at the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN 2). The conference was jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). More.

Montreal Protocol MOP Adopts 26 Substantive Decisions

21 November 2014: The 26th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (MP MOP 26) concluded with the adoption of substantive decisions on: essential-use exemptions (EUEs) and critical-use exemptions (CUEs); availability of recovered, recycled or reclaimed halons; and a Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP) report on alternatives to ozone depleting substances. IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 Concludes with 'The Promise of Sydney'

20 November 2014: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Parks Congress (WPC) 2014 has concluded in Sydney, Australia, with the release of ‘The Promise of Sydney' outcome. The outcome sets out an agenda for the protection of the earth's natural assets over the next decade, and positions protected areas as effective and efficient solutions to some of the world's key development challenges.
