Marrakech Conference Carries Momentum of Climate Action

19 November 2016: The Marrakech Climate Change Conference took place after the historically rapid entry into force of the Paris Agreement, which was agreed at the conclusion of the 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference. Many looked to the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) to maintain the momentum established at COP 21. Although the COP 22 agenda focused on technical work, making it difficult to show significant progress, participants believed that the Conference rose to the challenge and created a sense of urgency and accountability for the development of a rulebook that will make the Paris Agreement implementable from day one. IAEG-SDGs Refines Several Indicators, Plans Further Revisions

18 November 2016: The Inter-Agency and Expert Group on the Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) held its fourth meeting, including a plenary session that engaged a wider set of actors in the topics under discussion. The Group reached agreement on refinements to several of the existing indicators, and received offers from UN agencies to serve as “custodians” for collecting data on individual indicators. More.

ITTC-52 Selects New Executive Director, Adopts ITTO Reforms

12 November 2016: The 52nd session of the International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC-52) moved to restore confidence in the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) by adopting decisions on the selection of an ITTO Executive Director (ED), budget measures, transparency, a finance governance architecture and related administrative rule changes to address the funds impairment announced at ITTC-51. More.
