Preparatory Meeting for Ocean Conference Hears Initial Views on Call for Action

16 February 2017: The Preparatory Meeting for the 'Ocean Conference: Our Oceans, Our Future: Partnering for the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14' (Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development) considered the themes for seven partnership dialogues that will convene during the Ocean Conference, among other agenda items. Based on the discussions, the co-facilitators plan to produce a zero draft of the “Call for Action” by early March, and to convene consultations beginning on 7 March 2017. More.

SAICM Intersessional Process Deliberates Post-2020 Vision

9 February 2017: Participants at the first meeting of the Intersessional Process for Considering the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) and the Sound Management of Chemicals and Waste Beyond 2020 exchanged views on, inter alia: vision and scope of the future platform; financing implementation of the sound management of chemicals and waste; linkages to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; and how the concepts of sustainable chemistry and green chemistry might fit into a post-2020 agenda. CGRFA 16 Approves Draft Resolutions on SDGs, Animal Genetic Resources

3 February 2017: The sixteenth session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA 16) submitted draft resolutions to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) Conference, outlining the Commission’s contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reaffirming the international community’s commitment to its Global Plan of Action to maintain the genetic diversity of farm animals and domesticated species.
