IPCC Advances Sixth Assessment Report Cycle

31 March 2017: The forty-fifth session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 45) adopted several decisions that will significantly shape the outcomes of the sixth assessment cycle, particularly the outlines of two special reports. Delegates also established and adopted the terms of reference for an Ad Hoc Task Group on Financial Stability of the IPCC. More.

UN Member States Discuss Climate-SDGs Linkages at High-Level Event

24 March 2017: President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) Peter Thomson convened a High-Level Event, titled 'Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Agenda,' in collaboration with the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The event sought to provide an opportunity to highlight synergies between actions to address climate change and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. More.

ITPGR Working Group Discusses Options to Enhance Benefit Sharing

17 March 2017: An intersessional working group under the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) met in Rome, Italy, to continue discussing options for enhanced benefit-sharing regarding the use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. Participants discussed, among other issues, a draft for a revised Standard Material Transfer Agreement (SMTA). More.
