CFS 44 Raises Concerns About State of SDG 2

October 2017: The 44th session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS 44) convened under the theme, ‘Making a Difference in Food Security and Nutrition,’ and adopted conclusions on food security and nutrition (FSN), including: the 2017 report on the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI 2017); lessons learned implementing the 2030 Agenda; CFS and the 2030 Agenda: and reflections from the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) 2017 and contributions to the HLPF 2018. CMS COP Develops Declaration on Links between Sustainable Development and Migratory Wildlife

October 2017: The twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP12) to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) was guided by the theme “Their Future is Our Future: Sustainable Development for Wildlife and People.” COP12 adopted 54 resolutions, including the Manila Declaration on Sustainable Development and Migratory Species. Plant Treaty Governing Body Stresses PGRFA Contribution to 2030 Agenda

November 2017: The seventh session of the Governing Body (GB 7) of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) convened under the theme “The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Role of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.” The session adopted resolutions on, inter alia, establishment of an Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on farmers’ rights. UN Climate Change Conference Establishes Gender Action Plan, Launches Talanoa Dialogue

November 2017: The UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany, adopted 31 decisions that, inter alia: provide guidance on the completion of the Paris Agreement work programme; launch the Talanoa Dialogue (the Fijian name for the 2018 facilitative dialogue); give prominence to pre-2020 implementation and ambition, under the ‘Fiji Momentum for Implementation;’ operationalize the local communities and indigenous peoples platform; establish a gender action plan; take work forward on long-term finance; and give guidance to the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage associated with Climate Change Impacts (WIM).
