The sixteenth meeting of the UN Open-ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea will take place from 6-10 April 2015 at the UN Headquarters in New York. The General Assembly decided that the meeting will focus its discussions on “Oceans and sustainable development: integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development, namely, environmental, social and economic.” After a general exchange of views, delegates will engage with two discussion panel segments, namely: the environmental, social and economic dimensions of oceans and progress made in integrating the three dimensions, including an overview of activities and initiatives promoting their integration; and opportunities for, and challenges to, the enhanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development in relation to oceans.

IISD Reporting Services will provide daily web updates and a summary and analysis from this meeting. Kindly return to this site on Monday, 6 April 2015, for more information.
