1st Ocean Risk Summit
Reducing Risk from a Changing Ocean
8-10 May 2018 | Southampton, Bermuda
The Ocean Risk Summit, first of its kind, will be held from 8 to 10 May 2018, at the Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda, under the theme ‘Reducing Risk from a Changing Ocean.’ The Summit, taking place in the midst of rising concern in the international policy arena about the threats and challenges related to the world’s oceans, will bring together high-level representatives from governments, leading scientists, representatives of the business sector, and other participants. The Summit is expected to examine the risks posed by ocean change, identifying and considering new approaches, tools, and technologies to build resilience and mitigate negative impacts. With more than 40 guest speakers providing expert data, analysis, and innovative tools, discussions will centre around four main topics:
There will be ‘deep dive’ sessions exploring weather and climate, and health and security, as well as interactive working group sessions. The Summit, sponsored by insurance and reinsurance group XL Catlin along with other scientific and Bermuda-based partners, will also focus on the insurance and finance perspectives, as well as on markets and trends related to ocean volatility. |
