Highlights for Sunday, 8 November 2009

UNEPThe high level segment of MOP-21 convened for its final day in Port Ghalib, Egypt on Sunday 8 November, 2009.

During the morning plenary, delegates heard statements by heads of delegations in plenary. The preparatory segment was then reconvened to approve available decisions for forwarding to the high level segment.

Contact groups on methyl bromide, high GWP alternatives and essential uses convened throughout the day in an effort to complete their work.

The contact group on high GWP alternatives completed its work in the early evening. At this time the preparatory segment reconvened to consider decisions on halons and HCFCs. These were forwarded to the high level segment which adopted decisions on, inter alia: HCFCs; halons, methyl bromide, institutional strengthening, budget, evaluation of the financial mechanism, and essential uses.

MOP-21 President Church gavelled the meeting to a close at 9:05pm.
