Highlights for Tuesday, 22 November 2011
The preparatory segment of COP 9 to the Vienna Convention and MOP 23 to the Montreal Protocol convened for its second day in Bali, Indonesia on Tuesday, 22 November, 2011.
During the morning plenary, delegates addressed several matters including issues related to exemptions from Article 2, updating the TEAP nomination process, information on ODS alternatives, and the use of methyl bromide in Africa.
During the afternoon, delegates heard a report from the recent meeting of the Implementation Committee and the recommendations from the Ozone Research Managers. In the late afternoon COP 9/MOP 23 turned its attention to the proposed amendments to the Montreal Protocol, and deliberations on this matter continued into an evening plenary.
The contact group on replenishment convened throughout the day; and contact groups were also established on QPS use of methyl bromide, ODS used to service ships, feedstocks and process agents, the TEAP nomination process, and ODS alternatives. |
