UNCTAD Handbook of Statistics 2002
(UNCTAD, 2002) This handbook provides a comprehensive collection of statistical data relevant to the analysis of world trade, investment and development, for individual countries and for economic and trade groupings. The Handbook is available in print and CD-ROM versions and is also available online. More information:

US TRADE REMEDY LAW: THE CANADIAN EXPERIENCE 2nd Edition 1985-2000
(Government of Canada, 2002) This study describes Canada's experience with US anti-dumping, countervailing duty and safeguard investigations during the period 1985-2000. It is intended to update and expand upon Canada's experience with US trade remedy laws as provided in the 1993 study. The report can be downloaded from: http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/tna-nac/documents/USlaw-e.pdf.

WTO RULES AND PROCEDURES AND THEIR IMPLICATION FOR THE KYOTO PROTOCOL
(US Council for International Business, November 2002) Based on statements by the EU, Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, this study discusses the possibility that US exports could face sanctions under WTO rules if the US were to experience "unfairly" low energy costs in light of Kyoto non-compliance. The report expresses an urgent need for the WTO to create an understanding between the institution and multilateral environmental agreements, notably the Kyoto Protocol. This paper is available at: http://www.uscib.org/index.asp?documentID=2323

INITIAL ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT - TRADE NEGOTIATIONS IN THE WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION
(Government of Canada 2002) In this assessment report, the Government of Canada concludes that Doha Round of trade negotiations will not adversely affect the Canadian environment, since liberalization under the Doha Round will not significantly alter Canada's current trade. The report is available at: http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/tna-nac/ea1105-e.pdf

POWER POLITICS IN THE WTO

(Focus on the Global South, 2002) According to this publication, the WTO prides itself for being a 'rules-based' organization. Without its rules, we are told that world trade will descend into the anarchy of the jungle. This publication reveals a different reality. Behind the veneer of trade 'rules', anti-democratic processes are used in WTO negotiations, as the powerful coerce developing countries into trade deals. The document draws on in-depth interviews with many developing country delegates to the WTO. Its first chapter provides accounts personally written by three delegates on their experience of the pressures and undemocratic processes they have encountered in the process of fighting for better positions in trade negotiations. This publication is available online at: http://www.focusweb.org/publications/Books/power-politics-in-the-WTO.pdf
