A view of New York City

This workshop for negotiators and stakeholders will explore options for the institutional architecture of a science-policy interface to support implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants will discuss what types of knowledge would facilitate SDG implementation and through what types of institutional mechanisms this knowledge could be inserted in the global SDG process to enhance its effectiveness at all levels. The workshop aims to provide input to ongoing policy processes including the discussion by the High-level Political Forum on sustainable development (HLPF) on the science-policy interface. The workshop is co-organized by Earth System Governance Project, the Post 2015 Project and Keio University, with the support of Japan’s Ministry of Environment and the Japan Science and Technology Agency. The workshop is endorsed by Future Earth, a ten year global research programme for sustainability, and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

IISD Reporting Services has provided a briefing note from the Workshop on the Institutional Architecture for the Science-policy Interface (SPI) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in HTML and PDF format.
