OAU:
The representative from the Organization of African
Unity said that his organization is very active in Agenda 21
implementation of issues of importance to Africa. The OAU is
particularly involved with the INCD and the Conference on the
Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States. With
regard to the latter, the OAU urges the UN to intensify its efforts
to tackle the sustainable development of SIDS and hopes that the
action programme is well elaborated. The OAU welcomes the GEF
restructuring exercise as the success of programmes has to do with
the provision of adequate funding.
