The second meeting of the INC-D opened with a statement from Colombia, on behalf of the G-77, which requested that all official documents issued on this topic reflect the full title of the Committee: "Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee for the elaboration of an international convention to combat desertification in those countries experiencing serious drought and/or desertification, particularly in Africa." Kjell‚n and Diallo assured the G-77 that they would correct the title. Apparently the G-77 wanted to ensure that both desertification and drought, as well as the situation in Africa, received adequate focus.
