THE INTER-AGENCY WORKING GROUP (IAWG)

This group, composed of representatives from the UN agencies involved in programmes aimed at combatting desertification and mitigating the effects of drought, met in Geneva from 14-16 April to review the recommendations of the IPED and add their institutional viewpoints and perspectives to the proposed format and possible elements of the convention. It was also decided at this meeting that a representative of the NGO community would be invited to participate in future sessions of this group.
