Dr. Fadhal Ali Al-Faraji, of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, mentioned that his country is suffering from an increase in sandstorms, dune formation and salinization and that the government does not have sufficient equipment and facilities to address desertification. He mentioned that a considerable number of projects have been implemented to stabilize dunes and that 5 million salt-resistant shrubs have been planted.
