DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AFRICAN UNITY (OAU) DRAFT CONVENTION

Work on the format, guidelines and objectives for a draft Convention began on a step-by-step basis both before and during the Nairobi session of the INCD. A small group of experts together with the OAU Secretariat met to finalize the text that was sent to the INCD Secretariat as the common African position. The format and report were presented and approved at the OAU Heads of State Summit in Cairo.
