INTERNATIONAL PANEL OF EXPERTS ON DESERTIFICATION (IPED)

The IPED met from 29 November to 1 December 1993 in Geneva to comment on the draft text of the Convention. They began work on the elaboration of definitions, which will probably be included as a glossary to the Convention. They also discussed a series of documents and technical papers, some of which will be presented at INCD-3 and INCD-4. Of particular interest will be the papers emerging from the IPED on the interaction of Climate and Desertification (sponsored by WMO and UNEP) and on biodiversity and drylands.
