Amb. T. P. Sreenivasan said that the most satisfying feature of this Convention is that it reflects a basic concern of the developing world and seeks to tackle real human problems. The Convention also correctly distinguishes between deserts and lands prone to desertification and drought. Adequate financial and appropriate technological resources need to be made available if the implementation of this Convention is to become a reality.
