WORKING GROUP II:

Takao Shibata called to order the first meeting of Working Group II and expressed his deep honor and appreciation for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him to chair this working group. The Working Group then elected David Etuket (Uganda) and Dr. Anatoly Ovchinnikov (Uzbekistan) as Vice Chairs. The Chair then read out the list of issues to be considered by Working Group II, including: organization of scientific and technological cooperation; rules of procedure for the Conference of the Parties; procedures on questions of implementation; procedures for conciliation and arbitration; and procedures for communication of information for the review of implementation of the Convention. After the Philippines, on behalf of the G-77 and China, congratulated the Bureau on its election, the meeting was adjourned.
