INTER-AGENCY COMMITTEE ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT:

During the 47th General Assembly, UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali announced the formation of an Inter-Agency Commission on Sustainable Development, to be set up by the Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC) to coordinate cooperation among all agencies and programmes in the UN system. The first meeting of the IACSD will take place during the third week of March. During this meeting it is expected that representatives from the various UN agencies will review the functions of the Committee; examine the cost and resource implications for implementing Agenda 21 within the UN system; and discuss how they will provide information for the preparation of reports to submit to the substantive meeting of the CSD in June.
