RELATED INTERSESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

The working group drew heavily on the work of two other intersessional activities. From 13-15 October 1993 in Oslo, Norway, a workshop on the Transfer and Development of Environmentally Sound Technologies, was organized jointly by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Government of Norway. This workshop was organized within the context of UNCTAD's ongoing work in this field, but was geared towards the work of the CSD as well as an example of how these activities can be better coordinated. From 17-19 November 1994 a meeting on the Transfer of Environmentally Sound Technologies, Cooperation and Capacity Building was held in Cartagena, Colombia and co-sponsored by the governments of Colombia and the United States. This meeting focused specifically on technologies dealing with liquid wastes and energy efficiency. (For more information on these two meetings, see Earth Negotiations Bulletin, Vol. 5 No. 13.)
