Svend Auken suggested electing the CSD Chair at the
end of the High-Level Segment rather than on the first day of the
session. Preparation for the CSD should be more focused and long
statements should be avoided. Roundtable discussions or panels may
prove more effective. He commented that the desertification
convention risks being only words unless it receives financial
support.
