A. Population distribution, natural resources and the environment:
Selected topics for recommendation include:
promotion of strategies that simultaneously encourage the growth of
small or medium-sized urban centres and the sustainable development
of rural areas; and reducing the risks of environmental degradation
by developing appropriate strategies to address the problems
emanating from the expansion of human settlements in areas with
fragile ecosystems.
