VII. SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES ON MATTERS OF A TECHNICAL NATURE

Argentina said that the use of third parties for the settlement of disputes might be contemplated. Korea endorsed Argentina's proposal. The US, endorsed by Poland, said that the decision-making process within regional organizations should be improved. Canada said that it is difficult to find a technical issue not wrapped up in a policy decision. Japan mentioned that concrete dispute mechanisms can best be dealt with regionally. The Russian Federation, supported by Uruguay, favored compulsory settlement of disputes.
